NMSO
Board Honors Retiring Members
NMSO Board of Directors recently honored our
retiring Members at our last meeting. At this time we would like to
publicly recognize their contributions to Senior Olympics.
They have shared their experience, leadership, time, humor, and efforts to support the New Mexico Senior
Olympians and guide this Organization. They have been constantly aware of the needs of all New Mexico Seniors
and how NMSO can best serve them.
Ramon Candalaria of Santa Fe, served on the Board for ten years. Of his many accomplishments, fund raising
and sponsor recruitment of two major banks stand out as a tremendous benefit to NMSO.
Major General Alex Garcia, Ret., of the New Mexico National Guard served for seven years. He was
instrumental in providing our Air Gun Event Managers, Color Guards and
Military Bands for many Opening Ceremonies at State Games. He once
told Ceci he would even have provided a Tank if she had requested it!
Ginger Grossetete, of Albuquerque served for six years. She has been a driving force in developing the Dance
competitions and the Silent Auction Fund Raiser at State Games.
Dr. John Guzman of Hobbs, is a staunch advocate for senior health and fitness in Lea County and served for
seven years.
In all, a total of thirty years of service, a remarkable achievement |
because NMSO has a working Board.
They have done it all: managed events at State Games, sacrificed
their personal time, served food at Volunteer Socials, manned the
Souvenir Counter, folded T-shirts, poured over audits, reviewed results and records,
tabulated results, handed out awards and assisted with everything from Potato Races to
Torch Runs. Thank you just seems too small a word. You guys are truly the
best!
