New Board Members

D WAIN
BROWN, of Roswell, NM, is a Petroleum Engineer of 21 years experience and an
avid runner and bicyclist since childhood. He is an active volunteer in his
local church, and treasurer of the Roswell Runners Club. As busy as he is,
he still found time to serve the Goddard Cross County Team as volunteer
coach since 1998. In addition to all these activities he also helps with the
local Senior Olympic competitions in Chaves County and Parks and Recreation
Community events. Bob Edwards, President of the Roswell Runner’s Club can
not speak highly enough of his Treasurer. Not only does he tell us Dwain is
a dedicated athlete but also compliments his ability to handle the business
end of running and organizing athletic events. New Mexico Senior Olympics
welcomes Dwain Brown to the Board of Directors. |
W ILLIAM
"BILL" MITCHELL comes to the Board from Albuquerque. He received his
undergraduate degree from West Point and his MBA from Syracuse University,
Syracuse, NY. Retired since 1995, he is a member of the Board of Directors
and past president of the Albuquerque Senior Sports Foundation, and serves
on the Albuquerque Senior Olympics Advisory Board where he received the Gene
Vanderlaan Award in 2002. He has been an avid Senior Olympian since 1991,
attending Local, State, and National Games. In 1997 he served as Swimming
Event Manager for State Games in Albuquerque. Bill Mitchell comes to the
Board highly recommended by the people he has worked with. New Mexico Senior
Olympics is really excited to have him on our team. |
Senior Olympics
Welcomes New Vista
 New
Mexico Senior Olympics has just added a new addition to our Health Promotions
Team. We welcome Sharon Owsley, of Roswell, the new Health Promotions Advocacy
VISTA Volunteer for Chaves County. Sharon is no stranger to Senior Olympics
having volunteered her time to help the Local Coordinator in Roswell recruit new
athletes, organize the Local Games, assist Chaves Co. athletes at the State
Games, and help with fundraising activities. In addition to her Senior Olympic
involvement, she has been a senior caretaker, helped prepare and deliver meals
at Rio Rancho Nursing, and managed employees as a Department Manager at Walmart.
She has hit the ground running; meeting people in the community and organizing a
Chaves County Shuffleboard Clinic January 31, 2003. She is commited to doing her
best as the Chaves County VISTA Health Promotion Advocate.
