What’s Happening at NMSO?
- State Legislature Hearing – Rachel Agoyo testified at State
Legislative Hearing for the House Appropriations and Finance in Santa Fe,
Wednesday January 26 on behalf of New Mexico Senior Olympics and seniors
everywhere. Thank you Rachel – you did a great job!
- NMSO has begun organizing National Travel groups – so far over
100 athletes have responded to the insert in the last issue of The Flame.
They have ordered Social Tickets, Shuttle Passes, ‘05 Patches and trading
pins plus uniforms, and made reservations for Group Travel and Hotel
accommodations.
- The Annual Meeting for the NSGA was held on February 3-5 in Reno,
Nevada. This is a special meeting for New Mexico because there are two
openings on the NSGA Board of Directors and New Mexico’s Ernesto Ramos was
nominated. Ernesto has served on the NSGA board and is a past president.
- Last Year NMSO took home the awards for Print media for our 25th Annual
Souvenir Book and our Medals. This year New Mexico Senior Olympics has
submitted our web page and our Results and Records book for awards.
- Ceci Acosta, NMSO Executive Director, returned from the National Annual
meeting to report that even though Ernesto Ramos was not elected to serve on
the National Board two excellent candidates were elected. Our media entries
did not place this year but we gathered several great ideas for next time!
- New Mexico Senior Olympics welcomes Z-Coil, the newest member of
our State Games Sponsor Team. Do you know those shoes with the springs on
the heel? That’s a Z-coil shoe! Be sure to read their article in this issue.
- The New Mexico Department of Health – Injury Prevention division
plans to partner with NMSO to make the TREK events in April and May
something really special- Plans are in progress and details will published
in the May Issue of The Flame.
- Site Reviews are being planned for 2005. The NMSO Office staff
will be calling several Local Game Sites soon to arrange a visit for local
Coordinators and Board members.
